Still fixing things

I'm working with a few designer friends to decide what kind of aesthetic would work best with the site, but ultimately it's up to me to get the real work done and flex my design skills again. I've got a few side projects that I need to get the supplies for somehow, but the end result should be fine since I've still got a space to work in at the University.

Also removed comment moderation for the time being, so spam away knuckleheads. I'll have phots of the work done in the next couple of days.

James Jean

Ever since I first started getting into artwork, I was enamored with the works of illustrator James Jean. First hearing about him for his cover art on the graphic novel Fables, it was a short time later that I looked him up and was hooked. And since I've first started admiring his work it's gone through an intense series of changes, especially his non-commercial works.

His work circa 2006 was what got me started. Browsing through his gallery of work now is a real treat, and I long to be able to go to one of his shows. You should check him out at www.jamesjean.com.

Still on the streets

Well it's been just over a week since I've been living out of my car. Shit is cold as a motherfucker. I've been crashing on couches for the last few days, which is a welcome change to freezing my ass off overnight. There aren't a lot of options for the residence-challenged in this town, and even begging doesn't net much. People are more apt to buy you food, which is fine. A boy has to eat. But straight angling for change has got me around twenty bucks in seven days.

Admittedly, my "look" doesn't fit the profile of the homeless. My four hundred dollar jacket might throw people off, but I have to wear it lest I succumb to hypothermia. My twenty spot might have to get donated to the local Value Village in order to look more shabby.

The local library has been my saving grace in staving off boredom though. Being able to charge my phone while checking my e-mail has been something I've been taking for granted, besides the obvious things like showering and brushing my teeth (which still get done, just less obsessively than I'm used to). I am fortunate enough to have invested in a phone and some other small electronics that allow me to stay in touch with people, mind you I can only really take advantage of this near a hotspot. These are remarkably hard to come by in this town, but fortunately I'm located in the downtown core of my city so it isn't impossible.

But for now, I think I'll get back out there and see if I can bum some smokes off the populous. Until next time.
